The future is AI. The future is massmade. The future is masculine.

But… two things can be true at the same time.

As we trade our humanness to optimize for productivity, the value of work done intentionally, slowly and skilfully begins to rise.

The future is feminine.

We’re sisters who spent ten years living in the villages of India.

Like many Indians educated in the British system, we were taught to look down upon the traditions of our past. Moving to rural India was a conscious choice to see India outside of metropolitan madness and unlearn our own perceptions.

As the colonial hangover wore off, we saw the extraordinary skill in work done by traditional artisans in the villages.

There is soul in it… the slowness, the fine detailing, the recurring symbols that invoke nature.

Culture connects us with the memory of our human experience. It preserves centuries of history. You feel it in the fragrance hand-pressed from 20,000 roses or in the carved sandalwood door at the entrance of a home.

We were inspired to bring heritage crafts into the hands of people everywhere.

So we launched the world’s first Cultural Business School for women to work with local artisan clusters in India, and start their own brand.

Where profit meets purpose

The artisan economy employs millions in India✨ The handicraft sector is the country’s second largest employer, the majority of whom are women.

When your business grows, it sustains dying tradition, restores dignity and revitalizes the people behind it.

The Studio

Two Roads Studio was restored from a hidden-away storage with random junk in Central Delhi.

With our savings, we undertook the challenge — to waterproof the roof, install a false ceiling, fix the tiles and paint the walls.

Some personal touches and lots of love have now turned this space into Delhi’s community hub for creativity, culture and entrepreneurship.

We’re proudly women-centric.
